“Look! The sky has not fallen in, and the world is still a beautiful place”
They turned the TV off and went to the beach
These young parents decided enough was enough. Bombs, explosions, destruction, devastation, suffering, bloodshed and death on a mass scale in the Middle East - all on TV screens and regular parts of the relentless daily news cycle.
They turned the television off and took their young daughter to the beach.
Mum commented to me, “We were getting more and more worried about young people generally and what sort of world they think they are growing up in. It must be very scary for them, so we came to the beach to let our daughter restore trust in her world, far away from the Middle East. It’s like a cleansing and a re-grounding for the three of us.”
Dad chimed in, “Look! The sky has not fallen in, and the world is still a beautiful place.
“From now on, the television will be strictly controlled. Censorship will be alive and well in our house. No mobile phone for this girl yet.”
