After nonchalantly walking across Lake Burley Griffin on his way home from Parliament House last week, Jim Chalmers was met by stunned American tourists as he stepped from the water’s surface onto terra firma.

“That hasn’t been done for 2025 years!” one tourist exclaimed, to which Jim replied, ”I do have the same initials as the great man, with one other thing in common - Jesus couldn’t swim, and neither can I.”

JC then nonchalantly continued his walk home.

The same American commented, “They told me Canberra is a strange place, and now I believe them.”
